David and Jacinta's Walks- 2025

Holme, Black Hill and Twizle Head Moss David was out for a walk on his own today. Although it was very hot, it was relatively breezy up at Holme so I decided to do a composite walk based on the one that I'd done with Paul back in May , and one in the "Day Walks" series. There was space for me to park in Holme and the start of the walk descends to the Digley Reservoir, where Jacinta and I had parked in May . The reservoir was very low- either because of the lack or rain or for maintenance. Digley Reservoir- outflow well above water level After crossing the dam between the Digley and Bilberry Reservoirs, the path joins the Kirklees Way and there's a good view of Black Hill above Bilberry Res.  Holme, Black Hill and Twizle Head- David and Paul This was a rematch of the walk that Paul and I had started back in April. We made a lot more progress this time, starting from Holme and down to the Digley Reservoir. This time, we followed the Kirklees way above Marsden Clough. I had told Paul that Carol's Tea Waggon would be up at Wessenden Head on the Isle of Skye road, but... much to our disappointment, she wasn't there. To compensate, there were a few Belted Galloway calves beside the ruins of the hotel. Belted Galloway calves From the Isle of Skye, we turned up the Pennine Way to Black Hill. We then headed over to the Holme Moss transmitter and crossed the Woodhead Road, joining the path below Twizle Head Moss and above the basin containing the Yateholme, Riding Wood and Ramsden reservoirs.
