David and Jacinta's Walks- 2025

Edale, Mam Tor and Rushup Edge It was one of those incredibly bright, late autumn days and we decided on a slightly longer, but not too taxing walk to make the most of it. After a stop at a beautifully Christmas decorated Penny Pot, we strode up to Hollins Cross and then on to Mam Tor. As ever, once down the other side of Mam Tor and across the road, the crowds virtually disappeared as we walked steadily up to Lord's Seat, I was reminded of how we came to this same area to walk when David was recovering from his back operation. Edale and Skyline West It promised to be a dry day in Edale so we headed there, hoping to do a longer walk for the first time this week. The weather conditions throughout the day were splendid, with a mixture of thick mist, rolling clouds and bright sunshine as we made our way around the plateau. After a visit to the Penny Pot, we chose to climb up Grindslow Knoll for a change which was exhilarating.  Edale Skyline West We decided on Edale for today's walk. It had been a while since we'd done the walk from Hollins Cross and west to Rushup Edge, and we decided that each of us would do a walk that would suit us on our own.  David's Walk I decided that I'd do the whole round, past the top of Jacob's Ladder and through The Woolpacks. Noe Stool and Pym Chair from Brown Knoll I stopped for lunch at Brown Knoll, and then traversed the top of Jacob's Ladder, meeting the family who had parked next to us in the Edale car park on my way. Woolpacks and Grindslow Knoll I love the woolpacks and, each time I go through them, I think that I ought to spend some time  taking pictures, but for the moment- here's just one.  Mam Tor, Rushup Edge and Brown Knoll A trip to The Penny Pot was a little overdue, so off we went to Edale. The ewe on the fence still had her Easter decorations on! Happy Easter to ewe Lambing had started in earnest, and everyone was enjoying the sunshine as we went up the late towards Hollins Cross. There was still a slight chill to the air, and the clouds were a bit broody, but the view of the Great Ridge to the east was absolutely classic.
