Around the Tre Cima di Lavaredo We were on the shuttle bus by 7am, breakfast partly eaten and excited about the hour's trip to Rifugio Auronzo, at 2320m. When we started the walk at the Rifugio, it felt like a typical day in the mountains- a cold start, but with the promise of warmer weather later on. Cool enough to need a jacket There was an easy path to Rifugio Lavaredo, where we stopped for a quick coffee. A wide trail runs beside the southeast faces of Tre Cime, with the scenic Auronzo valley and the jagged peaks of Cadini di Misurina completing an awe inspiring vista. Tre Cima, south aspect and Cadini di Misurina There was a little church perched on the hillside and just beyond it, the Rifugio Lavaredo itself, at 2344m. It was reasonably crowded walking up to this point, but this in no way detracted from the superb views of the Tre Cime from the Rifugio. We continued on Path #105 to the amazing Rifugio Locatelli.
